As one of the two directors I had a team of up to 20 working to me including producers, builders and camera crew. I was given a brief for the experiment or stunt and we had two weeks to film each episode.
Working with the hosts and producers, I would decide how we were going to both tell the story and technically achieve each goal.
Being experimental science things rarely went to plan, and as we had a hard two-week deadline we had to continually adapt accordingly. It was my responsibility as the director to ensure we got each episode shot on time.
Fast turn-around documentary filmed in Hawaii.
Produced and directed YouTube series about the fastest motorbike in the world, attempting to exceed 400mph, on the biggest salt flat in the world, 12,000ft up in the Bolivian Andes.
In addition to this Youtube series I’ve now directed four broadcast documentaries about land speed racing. Filming these events is technically and logistically very complex, the machines go over 500mph, and the race tracks are up to 15 miles long.
Ongoing development project.
For the last 5 years I have been following the construction, development and first flight of an exact replica of the Spirit of St Louis and the quest by pilot Robert Ragozzino to re-enact Lindberg’s epic solo crossing of the Atlantic.
